Momentum 12-13 June 2015

Here's what one of our Baptist Ministers says about this year's event:

'Thanks to all those who organised Momentum 2015. Held in a beautiful setting, with great facilities the BUW and the SWBA Assembly was uplifting and inspirational. The main sessions on 'Living to Please God' from 1 Thessalonians gave much food for thought as did the workshops I attended. It was my first time at Momentum and I left feeling encouraged and challenged in Church ministry as well as in my personal walk with God. Congratulations to the newly appointed BUW English Wing president Peter Thomas as he works with the rest of the team and with SWBA to lead into the future.'

Our Baptist Family in Wales, with South Wales Baptist Association, South Wales Baptist College, Baptist Union of Wales, and BMS World Mission, gathered in Carmarthen for our Assembly for 2 days of inspiration, renewal, fellowship and encouragement.

Our theme this year was ‘Living to please God’ and focussed on the Apostle Paul's first letter to the Thessalonians.

Plenary sessions delivered by our keynote speakers were:-

  • Living to please God together with Rev Susan Stevenson
  • Pleasing God in a hostile world with Rev David Kerrigan
  • Leadership that pleases God with Rev Ed Kaneen
  • Pleasing God in a hopeless world: proclaiming hope - with Rev Ifor Williams.

There were also sessions when some of these themes were explored in more depth in smaller groups, preachers' workshops, missional thinking, quiet reflection and tackling justice issues. Added to that were our times of worship, prayer, good conversation and great food.

The event was open to all Baptists in Wales.
